We love Boise, and we are honored to serve this community, a community that is known for welcoming people from all walks of life and celebrating what makes us who we are.

Our state has fiercely fought for human rights and dignity in the past by expelling white supremacists in northern Idaho in the late 1990s and advocating for the rights of our LGBTQ+ community in the present, standing up for a world where everyone has an opportunity to succeed and to live the life they choose without disdain or fear.

We are writing today to express our fierce opposition to recent legislative actions fueled by fear and ignorance. The Republican supermajority’s attacks on our LGBTQ+ community included over a dozen bills to limit access to services and basic rights. This has left so many of us wondering if Idaho can still be a safe and welcoming place to live.

We want you to know that we see you and love you and want you to know that there are MANY people in our state who support you and want to make Boise, and Idaho, a place for you to thrive. Everyone deserves the right to feel safe in their community, have the right to make their own medical decisions and live an authentic and happy life without judgment.

As your elected Democratic legislators from District 19 we are resolute. We promise to do everything we can in the Idaho Statehouse, and in this community, to continue to fight for your right to freedom and to live your most authentic life.

We stand with you.

In solidarity,

Sen. Melissa Wintrow
Rep. Lauren Necochea
Rep. Chris Mathias
